Funding Boost For Klickitat County Projects
Flex space for aerospace companies at the Columbia Gorge Regional Airport and a community center in the town of Klickitat.
Two Klickitat County projects will receive a boost from state funding. A one million dollar appropriation will go toward development of a "flex space" at the industrial park adjacent to the Columbia Gorge Regional Airport in Dallesport where aerospace companies could launch their business. Klickitat County business retention specialist Denny Newell indicated American Aerospace Engineering has already committed to being the first tenant as it works toward building a fixed-wing aircraft production line. Klickitat County contributed $250,000 in funding. The second project will renovate the old Klickitat lumber mill into a community center, along with park improvements. A $500,000 appropriation is on top of $1,000,000 in state funding already committed, with the County and the Klickitat School District providing $50,000 apiece.
