Extension Chair Expects Flat Funding
Hoping for future growth.
The OSU Extension Chair for Wasco and Hood River counties is expecting flat funding for extension however the state budget for the 2013-15 biennium shakes out. Brian Tuck says they would like to start to rebuild from budget cuts in recent years, and keeping funding where it is now would at least give them an opportunity to stabilize and be prepared to move forward in the future. Tuck added the federal government's budget decisions could impact the research at the Mid-Columbia Agricultural Research and Extension Center. A portion of their funding does come from federal grants. Tuck did point out they have good local funding support for research impacting agriculture in the area.
