Columbia Gorge Community College is continuing to work on the final steps to reach independent accreditation.  A team from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities will visit the CGCC campuses in April for a fourth visit before making a decision.  New CGCC Chief Academic Officer Brian Green says right now the school is making sure it is ready to go, reviewing its own protocols.  It's been a five-year process for CGCC, which is currently accredited through Portland Community College.  Independent accrediation will give CGCC the autonomy to make more decisions on its own.
